The Interkulturelle Intitiative's Staff

Our culturally specialized staff is one of the main prerequisites for our successful crisis intervention and counselling work in the shelters as well as in the Drop-in Center. Our staff consists of 13 dedicated and qualified colleagues: three nursery-school teachers, four social workers, two house management workers and two project administration workers. Our staff is of multicultural background, multilingual and has a broad intercultural knowledge.

The languages spoken are:

Our staff's intercultural knowledge and multilingual competence facilitate communication with the women and children in need. For abused women calling our hotline, a counsellor who speaks their language can be a great comfort, as they don't have to tell their story to an intermediary interpreter in a situation of high stress. Furthermore, to witness women of non-German background working as social workers, nursery-class teachers or project coordinators can be an encouraging sight for abused immigrant women.
